yeah I got that impression too. Yet in his addresses in March he was advising Australians that if they had a place to stay and sufficient funds to do so, to stay put and expect to shelter in place for some time. I sense some irritability in his addresses now, like it's Australian citizen's/resident's own fault that airfares are so high now and that returning citizens will have to pay for their own quarantine. Implicit message being; "you should have returned home when we told you to". Mixed messages, much

Oh dear, sorry for laughing, but that is hilarious, if a little embarrassing to be singled out like that. You just have to be thick skinned and roll with it I guess. At least the other passengers would have been reassured and stopped treating you with suspicion

Yeah, I think many of us are experiencing this right now. A couple of evenings ago I was eating at my favourite foodstall, a middle aged Thai woman pointedly glared at me throughout my meal. I pretended not to notice and ignored her. The stall holders welcome my business and make pleasant small talk with me. They know that I supported them through the lockdown period and came everyday to buy takeaway (even when I didn't really want to) to try to help keep them open, likewise the local coffee shop where I developed a caffeine addiction during lockdown, buying two coffees a day as there were hardly any customers. I think you just have to be a bit thick skinned and ignore it. Keep reminding yourself that those who have gotten to know you, care about you and in the end that's all that matters

Sounds very stressful, heart in mouth sort of read. So much could've gone wrong

a year ago I opened a Bangkok Bank account without a letter from my embassy or an introduction from a current customer. All I needed was my passport and something like 300 baht plus 400 baht for the MasterCard with debit chip. I took along my rental contract and a copy of my landlords ID and house book but it wasn't required

so he would only need to put the funds in 2 months before his first extention is due? Not need to show the 800K in the bank for 12 months before the extension?

yeah I saw that photo of the peacock on the luggage trolley. But it's still really common especially with those travelling from the US to Thailand

I don't think an emotional support dog gets to travel free or without all the entry requirements-it just gets to travel in the cabin instead of the hold. Some owners designate their animal as needed for emotional support to prevent the animal having to experience being alone in the hold

and the one posting wasn't asking about coming in visa exempt in September. He stated that he had heard that this wasn't going to be possible until September. He asked for clarification of this. But instead you got the wrong end of the stick, didn't understand what was being asked, then went off on a heated rant making yourself look foolish
