TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around recent experiences of individuals attempting to enter Thailand amidst ongoing COVID-19 restrictions. Users share personal accounts of traveling under the Certificate of Entry (COE) and navigating quarantine procedures. There’s a consensus that travelers with work permits have had more success entering Thailand, while tourists and those with different visa types may face challenges. The conversation highlights uncertainty around travel dates, embassy responses, and the status of future flights.

Hi Shaun, there are definitely people getting in now. I was on a flight on Sunday from the UK with about 40 foreigners entering. Some that I met were very happy to be heading back to their wives after quarantine. I entered on a work permit. You need to contact the embassy where you are and ask them about the process. Different embassies seem to be interpreting the rules differently. They are your one and only go to. The Facebook group mentioned above is very helpful. Hope this helps.

I got my COE because I’m the father of a Thai national.

I can book a flight with Eva Air on Sept 02, but I was concerned they may not fly.

And I will stay at the Siam Mandarina ASQ.

I have been trying to enter BKK to compete on a condo purchase but UK embassy won’t allow visa for this purpose as it’s not on list of allowable reasons for entry visa. There is only speculation that the borders will open in August or September but no government confirmation. I think at the end of the month the government will publish its new entry requirements ...

Thailand has only been taking very small steps. I think there will be no tourism as long as there is quarantine. And there probably will be quarantine for a long time, as all new cases were imported.

People who really need to be in Thailand on urgent matters have a better chance of more groups being allowed in than getting in on a tourist visa.

Thai are accepting bookings from 1 st of September so let’s hope border opens end of August! Thailand high tourist season starts in September and for the sake of the economy I hope things start moving then 🤞🏻

They were accepting bookings in July too, then August. All of which have since been cancelled.

We have rebooked our flight through Thai Airways for September but they said “it’s highly unlikely we’ll be flying as borders remain closed”.

However I agree. Let’s hope! No one knows and they will open eventually. But I’m not holding my breath for September, I think October is more likely

You can do it all on line with the embassy, they will tell you what you need to do to get a COE.

You will then stay at a ASQ hotel for 14 days in Bangkok.

If you was more specific what you wanted to know then I could help you.

You merely asked if some expats had got back, the short answer would be yes or no.

I was merely trying to explain who is allowed to come back.

. There's been a few. I don't know exactly which categories, but I do know the quarantine hotels in the low-medium price range have been booked out, so that's an indicator
