DTV you actually have to sign up, enroll and take part in soft power courses....muay Thai, cooking lessons, seminars. You can't just apply, get it and use it as a long stay holiday visa. You need to proof of signing up and enrolling in which ever activity suits you best. You also need the equivalent of 500,000thb in a bank for at least 3months before applying.

Pretty much straight away....I normally leave it a few days after arrival then go to immigration. Never had a problem.

They were great with us. Helped us get all the paperwork and documentation needed for DTV. (It helped that we were already on the island!) Can't apply for it in Thailand so flew to Danang, Vietnam. Applied there via the Thai embassy in Ho Chi Minh, took about 3 weeks in total to get mine and my wife's DTV. Been living on the island since early march last year 👍
