I've transferred excess of 50k to Bangkok, Kasikorn and Siam banks, this year, after the new regulation went into effect.

the big 4-5 major thai banks will accept transfers of more than 50k. Have done it many times with 3 different banks.

Sorry to hear that, that had to be incredibly frustrating. But I appreciate the info, best to have realistic expectations.

I only had the single J&J that was 18 months old and that was good to go when they still reviewed everything for the Thai pass system. Think it's safe to say you are good to go.

that's tough, glad it worked out on for you though. Honestly I've never used western union in my whole life, I've always moved money various other ways because WU always seemed crazy expensive to me. So if that happened to me before I heard these stories probably would never cross my mind. So thanks for sharing your story. I actually keep some big bill cash tucked between my phone and case for any country I'm in. And a few other places. For exactly these situations.

just out of curiosity, you mean to transfer money to another person that you trust? Then they will give you the money. I don't need to do it, just want to understand what you mean. I use wise for transfers already but I usually just change cash when I arrive Bangkok.
