Could anyone tell me which transfer app gets you the best deal for your buck? Moneygram looks to be the better option, though would anyone happen to know if this is a guaranteed fixed rate or Will other fees apply besides the $.50 when transferring from online bank to direct bank?

TIA!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers around finding the best money transfer app for sending dollars from the USA to Thailand. Users shared experiences with MoneyGram and Wise (TransferWise), with some finding MoneyGram to give a better exchange rate for baht. Fees were a concern, as MoneyGram also charges an extra fee aside from the initial cost. It was mentioned that using Wise is fast and tends to provide more favorable rates, despite recent fee increases. Some comments addressed regulatory limits on transfers, clarifying that while some banks may have a limit of 50,000 THB per transaction, others like Bangkok Bank do not.

It says it right there, that the rate is only an estimate and they are going to add more to it. Most of these services do this. Conversely, the rate Wise shows is the rate you get.

Revolut is good, and I can buy bitcoin with it.

Revolut is particularly bad for THB. It's much better for most other currencies, there are just a handful of currencies it's bad for, and THB is one of them. They add an extra 1-2% to the conversion.

I use Wise. The rate is almost always the best available and transfers take seconds on week days.

Never tried MoneyGram.

The 50.000 Baht limit does NOT apply to Bangkok Bank and K Bank accounts!

I read somewhere that Thailand would only accept transfers of 50K Thai baht per transfer.

the big 4-5 major thai banks will accept transfers of more than 50k. Have done it many times with 3 different banks.

Always good to shop around. I've never used moneygram before but I've found after $1k usd transferwise gets more expensive than other options.
