Does anyone have knowledge about medical exemptions to the visa interview process? I am a US citizen. My Thai girlfriend and I are expecting our daughter to be born in December. We would like to travel to the US in Febuary so that I can visit an immediate relative having health issues that involve surgery and doctors orders not to travel. The issue is that I can not travel or leave by girlfriends side, so she would have to come with me. Another issue is that the current wait time for an interview is 6 months, so our opportunity window to travel would be closed. We can only travel until July.

The last thing I want to do is upset a Visa officer, or make it look like we are trying to cut the line. I would hate to ruin our chances of getting a visa in the future. Any advice would really be greatly appreciated.

You know, we all hear so many people complaining about Thai Immigration and Visas, however Thailand is excellent when compared to many countries. My wife and I live 50/50 in Vancouver, Canada and Udon Thani. I am on a Non-O Visa Retirement and on the yearly extension. Pretty easy, just some paperwork and a check in every 90 days. Today while in Vancouver we thought we would apply for a visa to the US to go to Alaska sometime. I contacted the US consulate in Vancouver and I was instructed to fill out two comprehensive forms, pay a fee (not sure how much) and they would then book a time for our interview. I asked when the interview would be and the US employee said they were averaging 700 days from today-that's right, 2 years waiting after you've filled out all the paperwork and paid a couple of hundred dollars just to get an interview!

And Schengen Visas in Vancouver from VFS Global? Don't get me started! A nightmare organization.

I recently joined and have a question about marriage I hope someone can help me with. If I marry a Thai national would she be recognized by US as my wife and allow for entry to America with me without a visa, and if not would it be difficult to get a visa for her? I am in Thailand presently on a Tourist visa.

Started the visa application for wife to visit USA. It's already intrusive and weird, but we've nothing to hide so they are welcome to look at social media.

It gives the choice of BKK or CM for the interview. Anyone have a reason NOT to choose CM?
