That is only a 90 day visa, not a long term visa.

You will need a residency certificate from immigration to use at K Bank. It is really hit or miss if they will open a bank account without the actual long term visa. What area exactly? Rural areas around KK seem to be more hesitant to opening bank accounts.

Type 2 can be self-managed in Thailand. You should have a kit to monitor A1C weekly, not every 3 months. Recommend walking at least 4.8 km+ daily. Watch your sodium intake, no rice, flour, sugar, and other things not recommended. It is up to you to have a healthy lifestyle. Make sure you try to find sources for your meds here in Thailand, if you cannot have them sent from Australia.

Out of 300,000+ expats in Thailand, how many do you know exactly that has a job? Come on, tell us the truth? How many do you personally know? I bet the percentage is less than 0.001% but you are probably not that smart in math to figure it out. You are the exception, not the rule.

Everyone thinks their western experience is transferable, however, this is Thailand. You have to be able read, speak and write Thai. Also you need a skill no Thai's have as they do not get paid much, not what you would probably be expecting. There are 10,000+ people on any given day looking for a remote job so they can live in Thailand and be able to afford it. This is the reality of Thailand. It will be solely up to you to find a remote job because everyone else wanting to come here is looking for the same opportunity.

I walk into my Krungthai Branch needed a passbook updated, the manager takes it out of my hand, walks it to the teller and it is updated with no wait. No matter how people are in there!

She said? One opinion? Why not ask someone that has been banking there for 20 years?

I have an account at Krung Thai. It seems the branches are always busy.
