Hello all,

I am arriving in November to live in the khon kaen area on a non o visa

My question is this; we will be staying at my SIL house for the time being, rent free. For the COR I need a tm30. She is in the states. Do I make several copies of the tm30 and have her fill them out while we are here? I have copies of her ID and house book, so I will have her sign those too.

Does anyone know of a falong friendly k bank in Khon Kaen that let's you open an account with a minimum of bs?

Thanks for your time.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is moving to live in Khon Kaen on a Non-O visa and needs guidance on completing the TM30 registration while staying temporarily at their sister-in-law's house. They are also seeking recommendations for a bank in Khon Kaen that accommodates expats with a minimum residence requirement for account opening. Comments provide insights, including the possibility of completing the TM30 online and advise on banking experiences with different Thai banks.

I opened a Kasikorn account at the branch on Mittraphap Road about a month ago with a Non O visa. I had a Thai friend to help but there were no problems it was just a bit long winded. Passport, certificate of residence from immigration, Thai mobile number. I took along my visa as well although they may have just taken a photocopy of the stamp in my passport rather than the visa itself. I think it was 300 Baht for the passbook and ATM card.

I've since tried to open a second account at SCB and GSB in Central Plaza but they both refused saying I had to have a 'year visa' presumably meaning an OA or whatever so I'll be trying other branches next week.

That is only a 90 day visa, not a long term visa.

Non-O Visa IS a long term Visa. Even though in itself, it's only 90 days, it allows for continual annual Extensions of Stay, whereas DTV's and Tourist Visas are considered short term Visas

You will need a residency certificate from immigration to use at K Bank. It is really hit or miss if they will open a bank account without the actual long term visa. What area exactly? Rural areas around KK seem to be more hesitant to opening bank accounts.
