TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation highlights various experiences of expats attempting to open accounts at Krungthai Bank. Several users provide insights about their experiences, mentioning the requirements that can vary based on the type of visa held. Some expats report difficulty in opening accounts due to strict requirements, such as needing a yellow book or pink ID card. There are mixed reviews regarding customer service, with some noting long wait times and busy branches, while others appreciate the staff. Additionally, comments indicate varying limits on banking transactions which can be frustrating. Some expats note that they opted for alternatives like Kasikorn Bank after facing issues with Krungthai Bank.

Well, I guess Kasikorn Bank would be the best, but they don't have a branch in the village and the next city is 50 km away. My Thai husband has Krungthai Bank, so I guess I will try first to open an account with this bank. I can always change if they make it too difficult.
This is the first time I've heard anyone mention this. You're saying you actually need the letter produced at the bank the same day if you're going to immigration for a one-year extension visa?
Krungthai Bank has a branche in the same city as Immigration, so I can get my statement there I guess

with all of this Bangkok Bank problems I was looking at opening an additional bank account. Kung Thai was on my radar but when I asked my Thai national friend about opening account there she said it was a government-owned bank and characterize them as slow. So I decide to keep my Bangkok bank account and see what happens in the future. It is wise for you to find a bank that is easy to access because they all seem to go with the operations being centrally located in the branch that you open your account. That's a generalization.

She said? One opinion? Why not ask someone that has been banking there for 20 years?
I’ve had an account with Krung Thai for a number of years but recently they froze me out of the App. When I entbto the branch I had to update to and version, sign more forms but was then told there is a 50k a day limit on transfers and a ridiculous limit of 1000 baht on scan to pay which makes it useless for my weekly shop. They said the limits can’t be increased.

I love krungthai. I have a business account with them. But when I went and tried to open a personal account they needed a yellow book and pink ID card. Which are not easy to get and take time. I laughed because... that makes no sense. But oh well. Im in the same boat my village only has 2 banks really. And I dont want GSB.
I opened my accountant in phetchabun it didn't require anything other than my passport I also have an account with the Bangkok Bank and I'm thinking about transferring my funds
Had an account now for maybe 10 years in Na Klang Nongbualamphu absolutely fantastic bank, I had to sort out my phone number last year but no problem a bit of paperwork and a new photo
are you on the monthly overseas money into your Krungthai account method for extension of stay? Is there any issues with the coding for immigration? Thanks
I walk into my Krungthai Branch needed a passbook updated, the manager takes it out of my hand, walks it to the teller and it is updated with no wait. No matter how people are in there!
I do that myself in a ATM. But when the pass book is full, you need a new one, right? That took me more than one hour!
