Anonymous participant I wasn’t there to apply for a visa, but if I was, the fact that I had an entry stamp, and no exit stamp, proved I was in Vietnam.

We recently entered Vietnam visa-free and still got an entry stamp. If I had been applying for a Thai visa there, that would’ve proven I was in the country at that time

Entry stamp, no exit stamp.

Anonymous participant you’ll need to check if immigration in Bangkok will issue one and what they require

Phuket will give you a residence certificate on a tourist visa. Other places won’t do it depends where you are really.

You’re not writing to the Thai immigration department. You’re writing to the ministry of foreign affairs (MFA) who issue the visas.

Your first encounter with Thai immigration will be at the border.

what should be, and what is, are often different. I’m assuming it’s a hangover from previous application questions. All I’m saying is that there are ways to allow that particular box to be easily ticked. Takes 5 minutes. 😊

Different visa, but when applying for a 60 day e-visa last year via the London embassy, they wanted accommodation for the entire length of the visa.

I wasn’t sure where I was staying so I booked a free cancellation/pay at property on Agoda, got the booking confirmation as a pdf then cancelled it immediately.

Satisfied the requirement and got the visa.

I think that’s just a box they might want ticked.

Although this DTV is new, if you have a current extension of stay (rather than an actual visa) it would make sense, if your DTV is approved, to go to immigration upon your return to Thailand and cancel it.

Although having said that, it would be interesting to see what they stamp you in on at the Thai border seeing as you have an active re-entry permit.

If you’re planning on being in Thailand on the DTV for the foreseeable future then best to cancel any extensions immigration have given you.

the three months you’re referring to is the validity of that visa. The DTV has a validity of five years so, you need to enter within that validity.
