I think you’re confusing two different processes. Applying for a visa from an embassy or consulate, fees are non refundable, they are ‘processing fees’ not visa fees.
Applying for an extension in an immigration office, fees are paid when they give you the extension.
Luke you seem to think that there’s a connection between immigration and banks. There is no ‘they’ that can change bank policy to match what people on a certain kind of visa would like.
Thai banks aren’t interested in your difficulties at immigration.
I think they sent you that request first because it's a basic requirement without which they will not process your application further. Basically, they're not even going to look at it until they know you're in the country.
I just received a reply to my email asking if there’s an online top up facility and the answer was no. Currently the only top up for the card associated with this app is at a Kasikorn Bank foreign exchange booth.
I have further asked if that means on,y cash, or if foreign cars can be used to do that.
Anonymous participant May I suggest then, that when you're writing your cover letter, that you use complete numbers for those figures? If those amounts are not in Thai baht, then a few words describing the exchange rate at the time of writing will also help remove any confusion.
Whilst the brokerage account may not be accepted for proof of funds for the qualifying 500k, it may go some way to showing that you have enough money to live on, so you may wish to include it in your submission and mention it in your letter.
