not sure that is true. If you first set up wise in your home country you should be able to convert in wise and return it. I did that with UK bank

Also you can get 4.5 % interest in Bangkok bank on your money

I use Wise for all money transfers and then send to my Thai account as when I withdraw I avoid the 200 baht fee each time. All happens in minutes

Just get a multi currency account if you are a tourist. If you are planning on being here for a year or more then secure the right visa and proof of residency then no problems
