TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion highlights current challenges and user experiences with the Wise platform for managing finances in Thailand and Vietnam. Users express concerns about the ability to transfer funds and use Wise cards in Vietnam, alongside ongoing banking system upgrades in Thailand. There are mentions of the merger of Thanachart Bank into TMBThanachart Bank and its implications for users. Users also compare Wise to Revolut, discussing potential advantages and functionality for expatriates managing their finances.
With Wise can't you put all your money in the account and get a little % rate. So what I guess am asking Wise can be like a saving account without needing a bank per day. Would like my money to be on Wise, then transfer as I need it. Thanks
Thanachart Bank no longer exists as a standalone entity in Thailand. It merged with TMB Bank in July 2021 to form TMBThanachart Bank (TTB), which is now one of Thailand’s major banks, ranked as the sixth-largest by assets. TTB operates under the brand name “ttb” and continues to provide a wide range of financial services, including retail, corporate, SME banking, and insurance, with a network of approximately 560 branches nationwide as of 2023. If you’re looking for banking services previously offered by Thanachart Bank, you can access them through TMBThanachart Bank at their branches or online platforms.
I’m pretty sure anyone living here has one of the included banks, that they then can transfer with no cost once you’ve deposited into supported Thai bank account (wise still charges for transfer to Thai bank though)
This looks like part of their additional crackdown on IML activities. Nothing really convening
I was referring to transfer between banks once the money is in Thailand.

Vietnam has been notorious regarding banking since forever. I have ex-colleagues who retired there because of it. 😊 They didn’t want their debts traced. I love holidaying there, but always take $ cash.
perhaps your account is with another bank, because that's not true. Anyway have a good day and I hope you can find away to access your money in Vietnam.
Thank you; the only reason I went was to do some business with HSBC, unfortunatelay I have to go back to Saigon this time but once this account gets opened I have no plans in the near future to return to VN, although our trip turned out to be much more fun and exciting than expected. We were in Hanoi.
