I want to have a certified copy of my UK passport notified and translated to Thai for the purpose of securing the Yellow Tabien Baan ( house book for foreigners)
I am in Hua Hin and the embassy web suggests finding a local notary. That would be handy but I guess BKK.
Has anyone from the UK gone through this process and can advise
TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The process for obtaining a certified and translated copy of your UK passport for securing the Yellow Tabien Baan in Thailand involves several steps. First, you need to have your passport translated by a certified translator. Some expats recommend local services near Bluport in Hua Hin. After translation, you must have the document certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). One user noted using services in Bangkok, specifically Express Translation, which also facilitated dealing with the MFA. It is advisable to get the pink ID card simultaneously as it requires the same paperwork and incurs no additional cost.
I used same copy as i did for marriage I used Express Translation near central embassy (bangkok) and they dealt with MFA as well. Also if you are going to do Yellow book get pink ID card same time as its same paperwork and no cost
You would think that the passport itself can be used as it is already an official and international document. I think it's a sport to make everything as difficult as possible
Its the law same as most countries that it has to be translated into official language of that country. Brazil is same had to get everything translated to Portuguese and notarised for work permit
Also, some banks are asking for a Yellow Book in order to open a bank account. Might not be essential but the more arrows you've got in your quiver, the better. Get your appointment booked at the embassy as I had a two week wait for a vacancy.
I'm trying to learn this so u get your passport to the embassy get it certified and get it translated to thai (by certified translator) and get it stamp at MFA so the district office is requiring that thai document with the MFA stamp?
it is heavily dependent on the amphur you need to use. I had to go to the main amphur outside Hua Hin and they insisted on this, but other people seem to wander in to their local amphur with a few photocopies of their passport and walk out a few minutes later with a yellow book and ID card. It took me weeks of running around and back and forth to the Amphur. Ask at your amphur to see what they need.
There are many places that can do this for you Neil. I used a place on Phetkassem Road before Bluport (towards Takiab) on the same side of road as Bluport. Sorry I can't remember the name. You then need to take it to Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their stamp, but you can use the one inside Bluport.
