a certificate of residence is needed for getting a driver's licence, purchase of a vehicle or motorcycle and for those who are the right visa a bank account ( cannot open on DTV) you need one for each and they are 500 baht each and only valid for 30 days, so time getting them when you need to use them, you'll also need a copy of your TM 30

your correct about western countries, I meant basically SE Asia, thought people would presume that, that's why we all want to leave western society, but people have to accept the T&C's of countries they are looking to move to if they don't like it, choose another country that has rules your willing to accept

Mr 5 Bank Accounts just accept the rules, if you don't like it get an expensive visa with more requirements etc or go elsewhere

Mr 5 Bank Accounts it's a privilege tourist visa, you want a bank account, apply for that, but there's lots of conditions with it, you need lots of money, have to get Thai health insurance etc etc

Mr 5 Bank Accounts you still either have to leave after 180 days or apply for extention which is a lot of hassle to do, yes you can come straight back in but that doesn't stop it from being a tourist visa, not everyone does ,
