Should my husband apply for the DTV visa and add me as a supported spouse instead of pursuing the elite visa?

Recommendations please,

Bit of a long post, but please bear with me,

Our original plan as I don't earn an income, I'm a suppted wife, was for me to apply for a five year elite visa and my husband will work FIFO and get a multiple entry tourist visa, so we can spend most of our time in Thailand, I would mostly stay in Thailand and hubby would fly in too on his rostered weeks off instead of flying back to Perth, now this new DTV visa is in effect, I'm wondering would he would be better off applying for that and me added as a supported spouse (we are legally married, married in Phuket legally), I've attached a picture of the clause I'm referring to, but bit unsure of how that bit works, I'm hoping we can do it this way as it's a hell of a lot cheaper than the elite visa,

Thanks in advance for any advice

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original plan for the poster was for them to secure a five-year elite visa while their husband would work on a FIFO basis with a multiple entry tourist visa. Due to the introduction of the new Digital Tourist Visa (DTV), the poster is considering whether it would be more beneficial for her husband to apply for the DTV visa with her as a supported spouse, noting that this option could be significantly cheaper than the elite visa. Comments provide insight and advice on eligibility and requirements for the DTV.

Not sure HOW Hubby will meet the Criteria, FiFo worker I am thinking he is involved in the Mining Industry and that in itself does not post as a Digital Nomad, the DTV ( Digital Tourist Visa ) requirements are a Remote worker (work for a company in another country by electronic connected means, digital nomad- work online, freelancer… could be anything… can only stay up to 180 days… knowing all those basics… hard to see how either of you would qualify…
Alan ******
Im pretty sure remote computer work.

@Alan *****
yes that is the understanding I have as well, it is all about the Digital Economy and not physically working in a Remote Location.

That said, someone will test the water in the coming months and find an Immigration Offical who may interpret the definitions in a unique way.
Alan ******
Yeah I think maybe there will be a lot of testing over this next 12 months in quite a few issues..

@Lee-Ann ******
again, YOU are reading into what you want it to be so you qualify, it is definitely geared to DIGITAL Tourists…

People who work via electronic means ( REMOTE - from their office ) not in a geographical remote area where their work is based.

not mining usually, mostly construction

@Lee-Ann ******
that is not the context of the Visa unfortunately… hence you find the answer in the Visa type Digital Tourist Visa… that said, if you were there on said Visa, you would have to clock out before 180 days.

If he is accepted for DTV, you would also be eligible. Just need marriage certificate
