Unfortunately not. It does seem unfair that you did the right thing and are being penalised, as if you'd waited until late October to apply for your 60 day extension presumably you could have stayed until Christmas.

historically English was the predominant international tourist language in Thailand. And IOs couldn't speak English back then either

For the amount they charge (1900 baht for a few minutes work) why do they not have staff that can speak English? I'll never understand that...

That's a lazy response. I saw the 500k baht 6-moth seasoned bank statement mentioned for tourists wanting to visit Thailand. No mention of it being in a Thai bank account.
Dominic ****
Do you have a link that mentions both the 500k baht and a Thai bank account? The only news I've seen refers to it being seasoned for six months, and how are tourists going to have a Thai bank account?

There's no such thing as a permanent retirement visa. This isn't the EU. You need to meet criteria to extend every year.
Dominic ****
Hopefully it'll only be for non imm holders. Tourists who didn't bother to do anything during the previous amnesty should be given the choice of paying 500 baht per day to stay, or leaving.

There does seem to be some conflicting info recently, based on assumptions.
