I recently received my visiting Thai family extension until the 25th of November. I will next attempt to get the Non-O visa based on marriage. How far in advance from my 60 day visit Thai family extension expiring should I apply for the Non-O? Thank you.

You will apply for a one year extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai wife. When you will apply for this extension is either 45 or 30 days in advanced -depending on the immigration office. My advice is to go to your local immigration office on Tuesday or Wednesday and ask them.

No. You will *NOT* apply for a Non-O visa. A "Non-O Visa" is almost always a full page sticker that gives you entry to Thailand, generally for 90 days, for "other" reasons. This is almost always issued outside of Thailand, at a Thai consulate, and cost 2K THB (or local currency).

To stay in Thailand after your visa expires, you'll want an extension of stay. For you, that extension of stay is called an "extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai national". You'll get about a

page stamp with the words "extension of stay". These are only issued inside Thailand and cost 1,900 THB.

That is correct, you need either:

400K THB in a Thai Bank Account for two months OR;

40K THB in monthly income

OR;

A letter from your embassy saying that you make 40K THB a month (note: the USA embassy is *NOT* issuing those letters)

this information seems to conflicting with Tod Daniels advice. He is telling people to get the Non-O after the 60 visiting Thai family extension which I got coming off amnesty. Please clarify.

is saying to get a Non-O visa after you get an extension of stay based on visiting Thai Family. To get a Non-O visa, you'll have to leave Thailand and apply for the visa (for people who are married to Thai nationals without the 400K THB, that's usually Savannakhet or HCMC).

He and I both doubt the borders would reopen in November, so the only option would be to get an extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai national, which will require the 400K THB seasoned money.

I had one back in April. Then amnesty then just last week I received the 60 day visiting Thai family extension

Ok, then Tod is right, you will need an in-country Non-O visa. In that case, go to your local immigration office and ask for the handout on how to get an in-country Non-O visa based on marriage to a Thai national, or ask them when you can start doing that conversion.

Once you get that 90 day Non-O visa in country, you'll be able to get a one year extension of stay.
