When applying for a 12 month non o retirement extension upon the expiration of a 12 month non o marriage extension, presumably you don't need to show 400k baht in the bank account throughout the previous year like you would if extending a non o retirement?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When transitioning from a 12-month Non-O marriage extension to a Non-O retirement extension in Thailand, it is generally not required to show a year-long bank account balance of 400k baht. The requirements may vary by immigration office, so it's advisable to directly consult your local office for their specific regulations. Some offices might still want to review if you maintained the previous financial requirements. Always check with the immigration office to clarify any unique local requirements.

Always check with the Immigration Office where you are completing your extension for requirements. Pay a visit and ask saves many other visits. Every Office has its own quirky rules. For instance, where I do mine, they require to see my bank book showing minimum 100,000

, and they say it is going up to 200,000 B in

. There is no mention of that in the official requirements

Remember, when you change the reason for extension the year starts from the day they stamp it in, not added on to the current extension.

good point as well (y) Keep that in mind

if you go a month early to apply you lose that month off your current extension

Based on requirements for an extension based on marriage to a Thai, you don't need 1-year transaction history of your bank account showing 400K minimum.

But better to check with your local office before jumping into the conclusion on your own.

As you are currently on an extension based on retirement, some offices MIGHT want to see whether you keep the requirement (minimum 400K baht through a year) for the current extension, some don't care.

thanks but that's the wrong way round. I'm currently on a marriage extension, ending in September

, sorry have misread. Then you only need to show 800K baht in your Thai bank account for minimum 2 calendar months as of application day using banked money method, or monthly income/transfer method. Either doesn't have to have 400K for a year.

You just show you met the requirements of the previous extension and meet the requirements of the new extension
