What is the difference between the 60-day tourist visa and the STV in Thailand?

I find this category strange and have not been able to get any clarity on it. It seems separate from the STV. Basically it looks like just a normal 60 day tourist visa which would be extendable for 30 days. Anyone have any ideas on this?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses confusion regarding a 60-day tourist visa in Thailand and its comparison to the Special Tourist Visa (STV). It mentions that the 60-day visa can be extended for an additional 30 days, potentially requiring proof of 500,000 baht in a bank account if extended. There are suggestions that for some visitors, the STV may be a better option due to its longer duration and lower banking requirements, with varying opinions on the necessity of bank deposits for the STV. The conversation reflects a mix of experiences and viewpoints regarding current visa rules and processes.

Si puo rinnovare fino a 270 giorni e in totale costerebbe 6000 bath 2000 x ogni 90 giorni. Soluzione migliore.

If someone asks for 60 days visa thinking to extend another 30 days, is better ask an STV valid for a minimum stay of 3 months. Pay only 2000 baht and don't need bank deposit

Tourists seeking to visit Thailand for both short and long terms may also enter. Foreigners wanting to stay for 60 days may seek a 30-day extension, but like the businessmen group, they must have copies of bank statements showing deposits over the past six months of not less than 500,000 baht, or the equivalent. / Bangkok Post 2 days ago.....

is that if u do the 30 day extension on top of 60 days u need the 500 k? So should be ok without need to show 500k just for 60 days??

Non Immigrant categories as far as I know;

Non B - work/business visa

Non ED - Educational visa

Non O - Retirement visa (OA/OX/O)

Non O - Based on marriage to Thai National

Non O - Dependent visa of foreigners who hold Non B Visa i.e., spouse and children.

That as far as I know are under Non- Immigrant, feel free to correct if I understood it wrong.
