It actually would make a difference to spend a month outside of the country. A big difference compared to 1 week or less.

It's technically good for 9 months also if you exit and enter just before it expires. Just make sure you don't get it until right before you go to Thailand as the visa starts from the day you get it from the consulate and not from when you enter.

Thanks Robert.. so technically a year maximum. I was told 45 days max from someone before but it didnt sound right. Cheers.

Highly doubtful as it takes about 10 seconds to put the piece of paper through the machine. If you're a Canadian passport holder it's maximum 10 minutes. That was the longest time I ever spent after 3 flights from Asia landed at YVR within minutes of each other.
