Hi all! Wondering if anyone’s had any experience like this..
I’m a UK mortgage broker, working for a firm under a network but LTD company director of my own Ltd company.
I pay myself from my Ltd company however I receive income monthly from my firm, this is paid into my Ltd company account. The firm is essentially my ‘client’ whose clients I then look after. As I’m a Ltd company would the embassy be that interested in them? (I’m hoping not)
My question is what documents will be requested? I absolutely don’t want to provide a contract if I can help it.
Would a letter from my Ltd company to me, tax calculations, personal bank statements and proof of savings be enough?
We would love to move to Thailand for 8-12 months with our 2 kids ( 7&10) I have a remote job, however we do not have savings for a DVT visa. Is there any other way to stay in Thailand for that long? Is it easy to extend a 60 days visa. We are from the UK and the cost of living is really getting to us as a family. We would love to give our boys some freedom and explore Asia. Thanks for all your help and advice!
First a little background info (feel free to skip😅):
I originally planned to move straight to Bangkok and apply for the DTV in Hanoi. But after arriving here about a month ago, I realized it might not be the best idea to commit to Bangkok without ever having been there. So I planned to spend 2–3 months in Bangkok first and then decide whether I prefer Bangkok or Vietnam.
However, I’ve now found out that my line of work (prop firm trading) is not allowed in Vietnam. So that leaves Thailand/Bangkok as the only option since I'm not interested in other countries at the moment.
I'm flying to Da Nang on the 12th and I'm planning to stay there until the 15th of May (as of now). I'm planning to apply for the DTV via the Soft Power route. I’m not sure yet whether to choose Muay Thai or a cooking class, as I do genuinely intend to participate in the course (unlike some, from what I've read😅).
I also saw that it’s possible to apply for the DTV Soft Power route through a language (and culture study) course. I’d love to hear if anyone has experience with that, as I plan to start learning Thai ASAP. But if this has a higher rejection rate I would pass on it. So I would like to hear your thoughts on that.
Secondly, does Hanoi really have the lowest rejection rate (in Vietnam)? Or is this just fairy tales.. Asking because like I said I did initially plan to apply here, but now due to plans unexpectedly changing, I will apply in Da Nang as it is more convenient. However if it's true I will just go back to Hanoi, to apply here.
And lastly, I could see that a IO could imply that I'm "abusing" the DTV Visa since I've never been there yet (I'm saying this because I've seen rejection posts, while allegedly, every piece of documentation was provided correctly). So would it be better to visit, before applying?
I hope I didn't bore you with my extensive writing😅
Is applying for “soft power” the more simpler route compared to “workcation”? For those of you who applied for soft tower, do you have to be constantly enrolled for the class to keep your visa? How much scrutiny is involved,or is it just a one time thing and then go about your business?
I will assume it’s not as easy as it sounds, otherwise everyone would be doing it.
I’d love to hear input from people with firsthand experience.
I am looking to apply for a DTV1 workation visa, as a PhD student/academic with a regular income (stipend from the Economic Social & Research Council).
Does anyone have any experience with this type of application? There isn't really any other suitable visa that I can apply for?
Hello, I need advice to help us determine best benefit between getting a DTV visa vs Thai Privilege Card. I heard that the Thai Privilege card also allows to work remotely from Thailand. Thank you 🙏
Hi everyone! Can anyone recommend a Thai tax expert or firm? I need help with a very simple matter. My company is asking for a written, signed confirmation that I can legally work remotely from Thailand on a DTV visa, along with a brief explanation of any tax implications (if applicable). Ideally looking for someone reasonably priced, as the cost isn’t covered by my employer. Thank you so much! 🙏
