This conversation discusses the long waiting times and frustrations travelers experience at Don Mueang Airport's immigration. Users share personal stories of waiting hours to get stamped upon arrival and express concerns about under staffing and crowded conditions, which sometimes lead to stressful situations, especially when connecting flights are involved. Additionally, some participants mention the availability of fast track services at both DMK and Suvarnabhumi Airport, and various customer experiences regarding immigration efficiency.
Highly doubtful as it takes about 10 seconds to put the piece of paper through the machine. If you're a Canadian passport holder it's maximum 10 minutes. That was the longest time I ever spent after 3 flights from Asia landed at YVR within minutes of each other.
Hi David, this is a nightmare for travelers. I can understand how you felt being stuck helplessly while waiting patiently for the queue to move. Worst when you have a connecting flight to catch. Wonder what happened? Was it inadequate IO to man the booths or just a sudden tide of passengers arriving at the same time?

Who knows? It could have been delayed flights from other airports. At least a third of the booths were unmanned but there were so many people you couldn't see them all and signage was blocked because of our numbers. Plus lines are undefined so you never knew who was in front of who. Understaffed without a doubt. My biggest fear was that the duty free alcohol from departure points would start being consumed and things would turn violent, the potential was there. Anger was lurking all about among tired overnight travelers who wanted only a place to sleep. I feel there was danger in that situation , things could have gone very wrong . Really it could have become a police/security matter very quickly.

You were flying out not in right? Was there a long wait at the check-in desk as well or only at Immigration?

Yep! Cheers.

Yes, two events. I arrived at 03:30. It took me until 06:10 to get stamped into Thailand at immigration. I then had to locate my baggage which had been on a carousel for hours and then dash to the airline ticket counter and get a boarding pass. Then I had to clear airport security again and dash to my gate to catch a 06:50 flight.......making any sense now?
Adam ***********
Ok now I'm confused..... You said you were stamped at 6:10 and barely made a 6:50 flight. Are you talking about 2 separate incidents?

I waited nearly 3 hours once after arriving from Vietnam.
Yes, think I left it on the airline counter, it was a hectic stressful time trying to catch that plane. They closed the door behind me, it was so close. Contacted the airline upon landing but no luck getting it returned so far.

you lost your phone in the process?

I never had to queue at DM, guess I'm lucky. 😂

I got in at 10pm on Friday. Took less than 10 mins to get through. Luck of the draw I guess...
-I must have been lucky, on the last three occasions I have cleared Don Meaung Immigration in quick time. Must depend on how many flights get in at that time I guess.

Arrived at 11:45pm, got stamped at 2:00am, Nah, late night flights arent so much of a difference.

Might be easier to get an evening flight into Don Meaung. I did just that from Kuala Lumpur last Monday. Plane pulled up at the airbridge at 9.55 pm...quickly walked to Passport Control, three people in front of me, passport stamped within minutes, down the escalator to pick up my luggage, through customs all in about 20 minutes...beautiful.
