what's a real tourist? I think the definitions are confusing matters. Just because DTV and Elite Visa holders are holding so-called tourist visas it doesn't make them tourists. As long stay foreigners we saw an opportunity to use a Thai bank account and took it. Now they've changed the rules then that's fine we'll just have to work around it.

Anonymous participant 860 everything that I've read seems to indicate that once the bank sees that you have a 'tourist visa" they will allow you to take your funds but will close the account.

you're right they probably don't know which accounts were opened on so-called tourist visas and that's why they insist that you bring your passport to the branch.
