It's completely up to immigration. I entered Thailand via Chiang Mai Airport from Malaysia on Saturday, and immigration didn't bat an eyelid....my friend made the same journey today, him and others were pulled aside and grilled by immigration!

it is easy to obtain, but if it was to be difficult it wouldn't Keep people away anymore than it's currently attracting people here.

It's great for people who are already bumming around here and want an easier life for the sake of a few quid.

the only people applying for DTV are annoying nomads and influencers who are already here, the visa won't bring more people, and it being difficult to obtain would not keep anyone away.
