Can a foreigner apply for a marriage-based extension of stay in Thailand with a same-gender Thai spouse?

- So the law says a “female foreigner marrying a male Thai” and not just “marrying a male thai”? Before today only female foreigners could marry male Thais, so wasn’t sure if the policy/law would be explicit and say female foreigner. Proof of funds required in female foreigner and Thai female too?

According to the agent the information received from immigration is that female-female will require 400,000 baht. The thinking behind the old way was that the male provides the support. So the male foreigner has to show the money but the female foreigner does not since the male Thai will be supporting them.

Technically speaking that should mean a male-male relationship has 0 financial requirement, and female-female relationship should have 800,000 baht requirement. But the information so far is every relationship will require 400,000 baht except Thai male with foreigner female.
