This isn’t visa related but I wanted some opinions on being scammed on electric bills.. I have moved into a Thai house, owned by a little old lady. But my electric is 2000 every month, I only use ac at night & a fridge then regular lights / phone charging. I feel like I’m paying for the other Thai houses that are at the back of me too😅.
But I really like my house, and even with this bill it’s cheaper than other rentals on this island. But it’s a bit of a p*ss off to pay so much when I don’t use it. Is there anything I can do in this situation, or is it just a suck it up scenario if I don’t move? She’s ignored messages saying the electric is very expensive
TLDR : Answer Summary
The user expresses concern about their electric bill of 2000 baht per month, given their limited usage of air conditioning and appliances. They suspect they may be paying for the electricity of neighboring houses and have received mixed opinions from others in the community. Comments suggest that 2000 baht may not be unreasonable for heavy air conditioning use, but it could also indicate potential overcharging by the landlord. Suggestions include checking the lease terms, monitoring the electric meter, negotiating with the landlord, or potentially moving to another property if dissatisfaction continues.
