In theory should be quite simple.

You will check with your local immigration first.

Leave the money as is until the new extension is granted.

In case you are denied, you still qualify on your own.

Original marriage certificate is the critical document.

*Possibly needing it certified and/or translated by your embassy.

Other than that simple.

IF you have the required documents,

birth certificate (Naming you as father)

House book of the child

Tm30 address registration

Passport copies

Passport photo

Usual thai forms, it's pretty simple.

You can apply for a 60 day visit Thai family extension on each entry.

So visa exempt 30 days +

Tourist extension 30 days +

Visit family 60 days = 120 days

** until some IO says something**

yes, you are not required to be in country other than to do your extension.

IF YOU are on a non-o based on retirement.

You could be here a few days a year if you wanted.

As long as you qualify for your extension and have a re-entry permit you can do that for years....

sorry but the only thing that works is a letter from the hospital/doctor explaining why you cannot fly/leave and for how long.

You will not be given any grace and will have to pay the overstay if your stamp has expired.

Even if they grant a medical extension.
