Is there a minimum amount of time you need to spend in Thailand if you're on a multi-entry retirement visa?

For example, is it possible to spend 6 months in Thailand on retirement visa and 6 months elsewhere?

TLDR : Answer Summary
There is no minimum amount of time you need to spend in Thailand if you hold a multi-entry retirement visa. Some users have indicated that it's possible to spend as little as 0 days in Thailand; embassies do not monitor your stay after the visa issuance, as they've already collected the fees. Others have confirmed that many retirees spend only a small portion of the year in Thailand, such as 3-6 months.

Addition to post: I mean, in practice, are there lots of 'retirees' on retirement visas who only spend a small portion of the year, like 3-6 months of the year in Thailand?

yes, you are not required to be in country other than to do your extension.

IF YOU are on a non-o based on retirement.

You could be here a few days a year if you wanted.

As long as you qualify for your extension and have a re-entry permit you can do that for years....

You can spend 0 days in Thailand if you want. The embassy won't care, they already got the money for the visa when you applied.

Though I've never heard of a multiple entry retirement visa.

Thanks, I just assumed that retirement visas were multiple entry, or maybe I should've just left that out.

with a re-entry permit, or an OA multi-entry?

@Kool ******
my mind immediately went to non-O so you're right about OA. But I definitely wouldn't call a non-O with re-entry permit a multiple entry visa.

lots of litimate agents advertise the type O with a re-entry permit as a multi-entry retirement visa, without explaining how, or why.
