Another way is to get a "letter of reference" from your embassy. That made it smooth for me (on a tourist visa at the time. But don't think he checked that.)
I got a "letter of reference" from my embassy. That made it easy to open an account (Bangkok Bank.) Pretty sure the guy didn't even check what kind of visa I was on.
I'm in Pattaya, btw. And believe me, I want a return to something near normal as much as the next one (including shorter or no quarantine for the jabbed.)
But again, I'm pretty certain that will require efforts inside the country to have moved along significantly.
Snark doesn't always come through clearly with the written word, btw.
Also, I'm describing what is the most likely route towards freer travel (not my own opinion of it.) Whether you like it or not, it'll involve vaccines. And, for Thailand in particular, it'll most likely require the (so far, very slow) efforts inside the country to progress substantially.
Because a) the government is not sure (some might say paranoid.) And thus b) inoculation in this country needs to be further progressed (while also developing a better understanding of the vaccine and how effective it is against mutations.)
