If I had a penny for all the times I screwed things up... I likely would be rich enough to live in another country heheh. Anyways, thanks for your help Tod your advice is really invaluable. Seriously, it is nice to get good clear info. Cheers!

thanks I will search for that post later. Tod I may have to get the additional 7 day extension. Could you tell me, if I cancel my current extension, can I later file for the 7 day extension? Or is it the case that once I cancel my current extension, there can be no further extension?
My employment Contract has that info. I just spoke to my employer and I got the info that it should not be a problem to cancel visa on last day, and can also have option to get 7 day extension for 1900 baht. Apparently there were changes to employment law March of this year which make it necessary to do everything in the last day, rather than having some flexibility regarding timing. I expect the last day of every month will be extra busy at work permit offices as well as immigration offices.
Robert, I believe I am on extension of stay: I have had the initial visa extended every year for 7 years, and I have notified of extension every 90 days during those 7 years. I have been notified by my old employer that it is not possible, due to their policy, to cancel in advance. I have a letter stating that I am in process of resigning, but I cannot resign until after my last date of employment. So I am confused. Should I try to cancel my work permit myself? Is so, do you know the procedure? And as for cancelling the visa, do you know the procedure for that?
