What is the financial requirement for extension (2nd year) of guardian visa (parent of Thai child)? I did my initial guardian visa on July 20, 2020. I will extend it before July 20, 2021. How much money do I need to show coming from an international transfer, and how long does the money need to be in the bank (seasoned)? When I get the letter from my bank showing the funds have seasoned, how long is the letter valid to be used for the visa extension application (e.g. 1 week)? Also, what is the earliest that I can apply for the extension? I am in Hua Hin. Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend your guardian visa in Thailand, you need to demonstrate financial stability. Specifically, for the extension based on raising a half-Thai child, you must show either 400,000 THB in a Thai bank account without seasoning requirements or 40,000 THB in monthly deposits. It's not necessary for the funds to come from an international transfer. The letter from your bank, stating the availability of funds, is only valid on the day it is issued, so ensure you time your application correctly. You can apply for the extension 30 days before your current visa expires.

The letter proving funds is only good on the day of issue.

at least in Bangkok the standard bank letter is valid for up to 7 days after it's written.

The bank passbook must be updated on the date you apply

this is what I remember from the first time I did it. Bank letter good for 7 days, bank book update on the day of application. I will check tomorrow at the local office.

You're probably better off posting in a Hua Hin group

>and how long does the money need to be in the bank (seasoned)

For a One Year Extension of Stay based on Raising Half-Thai children, you will need 400K. THB in a Thai bank account, *NO* Seasoning requirements. Or, you need to show 40K THB in monthly deposits (OR, a letter from your embassy saying you make 40K THB a month).

>do I need to show coming from an international transfer,

No you do not

>When I get the letter from my bank showing the funds have seasoned

I do not know what your immigration office wants for the letter showing you have the money in the account. I expect an updated blue bank book would be asked. However, leave the money in the bank until after you get the under consideration stamp closed out.

>Also, what is the earliest that I can apply for the extension?

30 days before your existing extension expires.

Thank you for the clear answer. I will call the local immigration office tomorrow. Cheers!

While regulations don't require the fund to be seasoned, some immigration offices treat this extension based on raising half that child(ren) as the same as one based on marriage to a Thai wife, which require a similar seasoning period.

Better to talk to OP's local immigration office to check their policy.
