Is it possible to do multiple 60-day Covid extensions back to back? Is there a limit other than that imposed by individual immigration offices?

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can obtain multiple 60-day extensions based on inability to travel due to COVID-19, provided that the immigration office continues to issue them (last day is September 27) and that the immigration officer is willing to grant the extension.

You can get as many 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 AS LONG AS:

1. The immigration office keeps selling them and (the last day they are being sold is September 27) AND;

2. The immigration officer is willing to sell them to you.

cheers... and do they typically announce prolonging the availability just before the deadline (in this case a few days before the 27th)?

Normally the day before, or even the day of. But the last time it was around a week before amazingly.
