Do I need to register a TM-30 for temporary stays outside my primary residence in Thailand?

I live in Chiang Mai and have my TM-30 registered at my home in Chiang Mai. I will travel to Hua Hin and stay in a condo there for 1 week. Does that mean I do TM-30 with condo in Hua Hin, and then update again when I come back to Chiang Mai? What if the condo in Hua Hin does not know how or does not want to do it, or does not give me the TM-30?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The TM-30 form must be filed by landlords or property owners to report the addresses where foreigners stay within Thailand. While staying in a condo in Hua Hin for one week, it is suggested to inquire if the condo management will handle the TM-30 registration. If they do not, it may be possible to forego the TM-30 should the local immigration office not enforce this requirement strictly. Upon returning to Chiang Mai, checking with the local immigration office for any reporting obligations is advisable, as practices may vary.

And with this I close the commenting. By law you have to report your address within 24 hours after arriving. It depends on enforcement of your local Immigration office if you stay at different locations and return to your main address or if going going abroad, how and when to do this. Call them and ask them.

I just returned from a week hotel stay in Kong Chiam, my diligent Thai lady landlord took my passport etc to Jomtien immigration office to do TM30. She was told no need unless I left the country. She enquired why some people were being fined, she was told that many foreigners do not do TM30 on arrival in Thailand and are then fined when doing 90 day reporting or applying for visa extensions.

Seems different day, different experience.

What if and What if, why not just follow the rules. You have to talk with the condo owner or land lord to do your registration in Hua Hin. On return you report back at Chiang Mai if that is enforced in Chang Mai, better check this before leaving.

I agree with everything you said.

We only give advice, what you do with it is your decision. Not follow the rules lead to fines and I see fines as problems. Take care what ever you decide.

If the condo in Hua Hin does not do a TM30 then how would immigration ever know you stayed at another address? Ask them if they do one. If they say yes do one when you get back. If they say no then be happy and forget about it.

If you know for a fact the condo owner is not filing a TM30 then yes nobody would ever know so why file an unnecessary form?

yeah i know it is kind of like if a tree falls in a forest. you know, if i go sleep at a friend's house here in chiang mai, what's going to happen? So if nobody is the wiser and I am down in HH, why bother reporting and possibly screwing things up?
