Re: paperwork. I would have thought a signed letter from the parents stating their child is in your care and they give permission for you to make medical decisions on their behalf. Alongside photocopies of both parents & child’s passports also signed will be enough for all possible situations.

Make sure this teen has correct insurance and you having the details will be vital.

Maybe make sure parents tell insurance company that you are ‘in charge’ and to accept your calls etc.

Hope you all have an amazing time!!!!

If she wants to stay with you for 6 months she could enter on a pre-arranged tourist visa or visa exemption on arrival.

She would only need to do 1 boarder bounce half way through (alongside extensions)

Sounds like her parents could time their visit to assist with her leaving the country at 90 days. .

Seems like a lot of unnecessary paperwork and money to get 2 DTVs for this scenario.

I’ve done 2 boarder bounces. Zero problem.

Spent 20 mins in Myanmar and stamped back in with 180 days.

Just make sure you check the stamp and get 180 days.

I didn’t have time for a holiday so this was great for me.

I’d really recommend getting a new passport. Pay for the quick service.

Pay for peace of mind.

The stress of worrying it might go wrong and the 99% chance it will. It’s not worth ruining a well thought out family vacation.

(They should issue us passports + 6 months as it is ridiculous…)

Try to organise next bounce well in advance. Use an agent. They will look at passport and only book your bf if he can re-enter.

If he can’t bounce - they will advise.

Your child can attach to the retirement visa till they are 20 yrs old. Definitely worth doing IMO.

Seems they are prepared for this. Someone I met had Thai handwriting on his visa, I didn’t.

Google translate showed the writing noted that passport expires before visa and to allow transfer.

They will be especially aware as dependents are part of the visa. Children are only issued 5 year passports (well in UK - I don’t know all countries!).

You will be fine.
