Burma has one boarder open. Kawthoung. You get a speedboat or long tail from Ranong. You are given 20 mins in Burma and back to Thailand. Needs to be arranged through an agent. The idea of flying I think is best for you.

Suggest getting the DTV visa. I got it a few weeks ago and it will carry me till 50yrs. Or I renew DTV for another 5 years as (at the moment) it has less requirements.

I can personally recommend HMC, Vietnam (not Hanoi). Laos was my 1st choice.

Check for appointments 1st. I went to Vietnam as the wait was too long for appointment in Laos.

Know people have had difficulties in Malaysia and Cambodia…
