Just paid 2000 baht for overstay.

I followed everything they told me to do after getting my first 3 months visa. Report back in 2 months.

To which I did, and they told me “you don’t need to come, come back next month”. And I did. But when I went back, they told me I needed an authorisation letter to get an extension, which would lead to me overstaying. But literally nobody informed me anything. I asked for any options to avoid overstay but officer seemed reluctant to help.

Then I asked if I could fly out and come back instead of overstaying but their question was “it’s just 2000 baht for overstaying. Can’t you pay?”

It wasn’t about paying for me but the “overstay” fine in my portfolio

To me it just sounds like they want my money….

I know I’m going to get remarks from all the old hags in this group who think they know it all, but I’m just gna say this first. I clearly don’t know everything.

I'm on visa exemption and my last day is May 9. I completely forgot so I went to immigration today to get 30 day extension but it's the holiday and they're back on May 13.

Can I come back on May 13 (Monday) to get 30 day extension and pay the fine?

Hi,

My last working day in Thailand is on 29th April and we are flying out of the country on 30th April.

I am planning to go to Chaeng wattana immigration office on 25th April.

What is the procedure as well as list of documents needed from my employer to cancel the visa so that I can leave on 30th april, 1 day after my last day at work on 29th April ?

I hope someone can advise me on this. I didn't realise that the day of arrival is classed as day 1. I had calculated day 30 to be on the 23 February and my flight is booked for then, but the stamp says exit by 22nd. Will I just have to pay a fine at immigration or is it more serious than that? Thanks for any information and advice you offer me

Hello everybody,

I will arrive in Thailand by air and get VOA as a Romanian passport holder, then go on a cruise from Thailand (exit Thailand by sea). My mistake is that i miscalculated and i will embark the ship on my 17th day ( the exit day from Thailand which is 2 days later than my 15 day visa). 3 questions i have:

* at the immigration office for visas on arrival in the airport, i have tickets boarding the ship after the visa expires. Are they going to give me the visa in this case if i tell them ill pay the fine or try to extend?

* if i will pay the fee for staying 2 days more, is there any problem to go back to Thailand in the future as i overstayed?

* Can i extend my visa once i am there with 7 days just so i dont have all this problems?

Thank you so much to all the help!

I have a young person under my care from the UK who has had her passport stolen, the photo page ripped out, then anonymously returned. A new passport has been applied for but the issue comes with the thai visa.

She entered with a Non-O volunteer visa which must be extended to the full year this December. As she has a damaged passport, this cannot be done. Immigration have said they will not give her a temporary extension until the new passport arrives, and said she must pay the 500b overstay fine every day until her passport arrives. The passport will take around 4-6 weeks making this fine extremely high.

Anyone have any suggestions on what we could ask immigration to encourage them to take pity on her and provide a temporary extension to avoid having to pay the fine? Also, she can’t leave the country to wait it out as she has no ID to travel and needs to be here to collect the new passport in person anyway.

Complicated i know!

Hi all! I have this question: at the beginning of September, a young man got into a very unpleasant situation, where his passport was stolen. The guy himself was almost constantly in the hospital; he was recently given a new passport. At the moment he has a long overstay of 44 days. Please tell me, is it possible to somehow agree with the emigration service on canceling the overstay for medically valid reasons?

I understand that for overstays of a few days there’s also a possibility to go to an immigration centre and get an extension for 7 days. Arguably the overstay won’t be recorded then and you’re more likely to get granted a re-entry visa when u enter again. Is that the case?

I’m thinking which way is more reasonable - immediate departure with overstay recorded and a fine or a trip to the immigration centre first…
