I’ll be applying for the DTV VISA soon. I’m gathering my required information.

One requirement is 500,000 Baht ($15,500) in your bank account. I have more than enough money spread out amongst several accounts.

I have money in my bank checking account, bank high yield savings account, and also stocks account.

I don’t keep $15,000 in my bank checking account, only about $1000. Most of my money is in the high yield savings account and my stocks which are separate than my bank account.

1. Can I show on the DTV application that I have 3 separate accounts that equal well over the $15,000 requirement? Send in 3 account information? Including my stock account on Robinhood?

2. Do I need to consolidate the $15,000 into one account, say my bank checking account?

3. Can I show my stock portfolio? That has more than $15,000 required. Will they accept stock account such as Robinhood?

I’d rather not have to sell my stocks just to get that value into my bank checking account…

I keep very little in my checking account so my money can grow.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks everyone!

Hi, not visa related.

My bank has informed me that it will close my account when I move to Thailand (won't allow a current account if I no longer live in the UK, I can have an international account with £100,000 deposit and charge £7 a month to use it!)

I have looked around Google, but now my head hurts! 😳😫🤣

Any advice in keeping a UK account while living in Thailand will be much appreciated 👍

(Edit included)

I haven't told my bank, it's information I read on their site, technically I will have a uk address, my son is buying my share of the house and living in it.

Wise question please. I have two bank accounts registered in WISE. I have uploaded funds to WISE from one of them and now want to transfer to the other account from WISE for the first time. Is there some simple way to do this? WISE doesn’t seem to offer me this option and it seems I need to enter in all the information again for my other account, which is already registered in the app. Thanks

We took a chance.....we were successful at opening 2 bank accounts at Bangkok Bank in CNX (125 Changhuak Rd, Tambon Si Phum, Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai 50200, Thailand without having to go to immigration and get the residency certificate! The requested requirements were passports, US driver's license, international driver's license and our lease agreement. 2 1/2 hours later and what seemed like at least 50 signatures each and many stamps, We are in! Because one of the accounts is a JOINT account, we are not able to have immediate online banking until we get approval.(another application x 2) They will be sending the user ID by text, and mailing us the PIN number. This was all because there were two people on the account?? Expect 3-5 days before online banking. All in all, we are super happy.
