TM30 Current information. I know this subject elicits many variations in what is correct.

Today I was in Jomtien Immigration at 16:00 and the Information counter was literally empty so I had the undevided attention of two IOs. I asked them about when is a new TM30 required. The response was:

If you have a new(ish) TM30 in your passport ,(unsure why it has to be in the PP,) and you leave Thailand and return to the same address as your TM30, you do NOT need to do another one.

I know others will dispute that answer and yes there are many different IOs. Others will say it has always been that way. I will test their answer next month.

I am coming upon the time to do my first non-O extension based upon retirement. I’m in Bangkok. I would like to check something.

I seem to recall reading that the bank book update and letter from the bank needs to be either from the day before or the day one goes to immigration. I’m hoping it’s the day before, so I can go first thing in the morning. I’m not finding documentation about this online. Can anyone with experience share?

Question? If I book a flight from Saigon to Krabi with Thai Airways and it says that my bags are transferred at the stopover in Bangkok do I go through customs in Bangkok or Krabi? If I go through customs in Bangkok do I not need all my bags with me? FYI I’m Canadian so I get 30 entry without a visa.

Any and all advice would be appreciated.

Everything else... I have two phones one I came with that wouldn't take a Thai sim card, the other I got here and have a Thai number. My American phone is the only one I can use to call America, bank, credit cards, doctors but I'm paying Consumer Cellular every month. Is there a way to keep my American number without paying $45 a month? Hopefully only have one phone? Thank you

So I have a couple of extra dollars/Baht.

I wanted to put it away in a rainy day fund. The best option seems to be buy gold.

What are some other options? We're not talking big money a couple thousand USD.

Thoughts?

Question about annual new car bureaucracy

I bought a truck new last June in Bangkok. Due to trips outside Thailand I didn't get a 90-day report to get a residence certificate to register the truck at DLT. (My UK embassy doesn't do res cert so I needed the TM47.)

When my truck is a year old, I'll have to pay tax and insurance (anything else?)

Do I need to register the truck before I can pay the tax?

Do I have to register the truck where the showroom is? Or can I contact Ford in Hua Hin?

Is it lots of work to move a vehicle registration eg from HH to Bkk?

My last 90-day was Bkk, but I'm living in HH and my 90 day is due in a few weeks.

Huge thanks

Glorious afternoon everyone. A bit of a dilemna. I am 3 months into my second year of non o visa and I live in Pattaya. When I first took out my original visa I lived and banked in Phitsanulok then I moved here. So two things; firstly I have to pay charges to put in and take out money from my bank in Pattaya because it's not my home registered bank. Am I better off closing my account and opening an account in Pattaya to avoid these irritating costs (cheap Charlie). If I close my account I would probably change bank type. Secondly, what would happen to my status regarding my bank account if I do change banks or branch, when it comes to renewing my non o in December, as I would only be able to show statements for the next 8 months rather than full 12 months they ask for. TIA. Barry

I am a French citizen looking to stay in Thailand for 60 days instead of the regular 30 days. Do I need to apply online for a tourist visa, which apparently takes 5 weeks, or can I simply go to an office and get it done faster?

🙏
