Question about SIM cards. I went to the AIS in the Lotus by On Nut to get a 30 day SIM card. I asked if they had tourist SIM cards and they gave me a Thai local SIM card, which after checking, is much less expensive than a tourist SIM card. They assured me it would work, but Iā€™m not too convinced based on their lack of English. Can anybody clarify if it would work or if I need a ā€œTourist Sim Cardā€. Iā€™m putting it a Samsung Note 20 Ultra brought just for that purpose, to use during the day for Bolt, Grab, maps, surfing for info, etc. Iā€™ll use my Verizon 15 Pro Max for WiFi Calling and surfing at the hotel at night. Thanks.

Hi!

Iā€™ve been doing some research on a SIM card.

I have been looking at this with the AIS social sim for 50Bā€¦ am I right to assume with these terms and conditions that I will get unlimited Internet for 50B for 30 days?

I am really wanting just a sim for Internet. Max 200B a month but everywhere I go, they want to sell me a tourist sim. I am here for 2/3 months.

I read through the previous posts of going to 7/11 but Iā€™m on Koh Phangan and they only have ā€œtrueā€ that Iā€™ve seen.

I just wanna be able to go into a shop and say ā€œI want this..ā€ šŸ˜…

Any information and step by step guidelines for dummies would be really appreciated šŸ™Œ

Sim card advice and recommendations?

I will be in Koh Phangan for a couple of months and wondering the best SIM option?

I have seen 8, 15, and 30 day deals but I'm confused as to how these work and if I can top up again etc.

Some people have said not to get a tourist/traveller SIM.

Hi All,

Hope this may help others, like people have helped me previously to understand.

We arrived at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport yesterday at 9am local time from London.

The ā€˜Thailand Passā€™ desk is very efficient they want to see the below:

- Thailand pass

- RT-PCR

- Boarding pass

- Landing form TM6 (if applicable)

- Passport

All paper and we were through in less than 10 mins.

Immigration was quick for us too (About 15 mins).

Collect luggage, had time to go to ATM and also get a Tourist SIM, then exited to where the quarantine hotel pick ups are.

Here not so efficient , bit of a free for all.

Lots of Reps with boards , desks with names of hotels etc.

Once you find your hotel they queue you up to wait for transport (we waited about 30 mins)

At hotel , check in and had to wait 45 mins for PCR Test. Itā€™s one swab from mouth and one from nose. The nose one is not nice!

Then to the quarantine room.

They said test results would be 6-10 hours.

We received our results (both negative) via email 7.5 hours after the test at 7.15pm.

We were then allowed to leave the room and go for dinner , 7/11 etc.

We stayed Novotel hotel right near airport.

They print off your negative report, as I understand any other hotels you stay in Thailand will want to see it on arrival.
