I’m looking for advice on maintaining communication with family and business back home. I have Verizon plan that I need to keep because my daughter and grandkids have phones on it. Definitely not using their international travel plan. Do you switch to a local plan in Thailand and can you keep your existing number? Can I make calls using WiFi with my iPhone if I have WiFi calls selected in settings without additional charges? It can’t be that simple can it? Any help appreciated.

A question about telephones. We have US cellphones, but we're moving to Bangkok in November. Ditching the US phones (but we can keep the number, according to Consumer Cellular), and we will buy a new phone in Thailand. I'm worried about a few US corporations that like to 2-Factor authenticate on a US phone number, has anyone 1. used Google Voice, and 2. can it be used for 2-Factor authentication?

Need some specific advice re cell phone plans.. Moving to BKK in July, will have phone paid off and unlocked.. Currently with ATT but their customer service is atrocious .. Will be using AIS while living in BKK.. I’ll have eSIM so can simply toggle back and forth between Asian phone # and American phone # when needing two-factor authentication for banks and the like.. that’s the only thing ill need my American phone # for.. My question is: Which American carrier can i switch to (away from ATT) to keep my American phone # active - with the cheapest plan that will work when needing 2FA ? Not interested in Google Voice or similar.. and not interested in paying $90 per month for an “international plan”, only the cheapest plan /carrier active enough to be able to receive 2FA ? Thanks in advance .

Everything else... I have two phones one I came with that wouldn't take a Thai sim card, the other I got here and have a Thai number. My American phone is the only one I can use to call America, bank, credit cards, doctors but I'm paying Consumer Cellular every month. Is there a way to keep my American number without paying $45 a month? Hopefully only have one phone? Thank you

Hi all, I just re-arrived back to Thailand on 60 day tourist visa (I hope to extend with ED visa later). I am planning to get an apartment with my friend and sign for a 1 year lease. So, right now, I am looking to get a new SIM card soon, but considering that I'll need internet at a new apartment, I'm wondering what process is best to approach SIM, and internet in probably two weeks or less. Any advice appreciated as to what mobile/internet company and plan I should get! TIA

Hi, anybody know if the True SIMs from 7-eleven lose the number/die if you go away for some time or stop paying?

In some countries, it can be 3 or 6 months.

Or is the only solution just to keep a balance and let it autorenew on current or reduced plan, or maybe just a small balance without a plan is enough, and plans can be reinstated on return?

Not optimistic i could find out from 7-eleven staff.

Thanks
