I plan to come for 3 months again this winter. Do I have to contact the Thai consulate in LA as I have done the last few years? I wrote to the. Two weeks asking for forms and directions but haven’t heard back. Is there someone in the office there I could simply call and see what forms they require now. I want to buy my tickets now. Thanks for an5 contact help you can offer. Jim Hartman, Coloradoone@yahoo.com.

Hello,

My name and passport number are incorrect in the non-immigrant dependent visa issued by the Thai Consulate in Vientiane. Upon pointing this out, my documents, including my passport, were taken back by the consulate with no clear indication of if and when this issue would be resolved.

Has anyone faced this situation before? Please advice.

Tipps / agencies sought for getting married in Thailand without the hassle. As a German national it would seem to be particularly complicated, lengthy, and costly to marry a Thai woman. While for some nationalities (like the US) it is as “simple” as giving an affirmation of THEM never having been married at their respective consulate, who then issues a letter to present at the Amphoe. Sounds like rather streamlined. The bureaucracy involved for Germans is on a whole other level. Germans need a document from Germany called “Ehefähigkeitszeugnis” (a very German word, I know). It is a certificate that is issued by an authority in Germany (and only in German of course) that confirms that BOTH the German national AND the Thai national are free to marry EACH OTHER. That involves countless different documents, translations, notarizations, and legalizations from various authorities in both countries send back and forth. And only then would be German consulate issue a confirmation of free to marry to the Thai Amphoe. Very costly and time-consuming. A nightmare. While I was always one to avoid agencies and the brown envelope kind of way of doing things in Thailand, I am leaning towards making an exception here, if possible. Any leads on a painless way to obtaining a legit Thai marriage certificate? Both have never been married. And please, no jokes about the pain of getting married in general – and what a mistake it is. ;-)

I want to apply for a one year, Non Immigrant O-A visa, at Thai consulate in US. Application by mail seems to take a long time (two weeks). I plan to apply in person. I live in Oakland, CA. I would apply in person in LA, or NY (if i am allowed to apply in NY given my CA residence). Anybody has recent experience doing so?

I'm on a extension of my multi non O due to marriage with a Thai national, it's due for renewal August but I can't do an extension this next time ( funds not available this time) and plan to go to Ho Chi Min or Savanakhet for a multi O based on marriage. Can I go anytime before my present extension reaches its end date or do I have to wait until 30 days before the end. Thanks

Hi, I'm currently in Thailand finishing up an ED visa but will return to the USA in October and submit docs to the Thai consulate in Los Angeles for a long stay/"retirement" O-A visa.

No issues meeting the requirements but saw on a post that getting the medical certificate was turning out to be more of a hassle than expected. I was wondering would it be easier to take care of the medical certificate here before I leave? Would it be accepted at the consulate in LA?

Any info very much appreciated!
