I've posted about this before, but I've got some new information...

I need a new phone. I go back to USA for 3 weeks about every 2-3 months. Too much time to want to deal with two phones. As far as I know AIS will require me to use a physical SIM. Verizon is saying they only offer phones with 2 eSIMs. Sales people are sometimes derps though .. or is the world really on its way to only eSIM?

Going to be transiting in Bangkok overnight this weekend. Starting out by Robinson's Lat Krabang. Want to get an esim that night to use as we prepare to move to Thailand. Don't want the tourist kind, rather a permanent esim prepay I can put money on and renew every year or six months. Anyone do this recently. Can I just go to a 7-11 with passport and buy an esim intended for residents rather than short term tourist?

Hi all. So I'm making a big plan to travel across Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, the Philippines and Cambodia. I'm pretty sure I'm going to want an eSim. Anyone got any recommendations? Calls and texts are not really needed , the priority is data and lots of it! Ideally with 5G too but that's not essential. Cheers 👍

Hi everyone. I'm coming in Thaïland in 2 days, I got my DTV visa approved. I wanna take a mobile plan (SIM card only) but they ask for a Thai ID number on true.th website.

Since I'm gonna stay for a long time, I'm not sure that's changing my number every month with a tourist SIM card is a good solution.

Do you know if they will also ask for Thai ID number if I go on a true shop directly?

Thanks

Keeping US Number -

Hey folks, coming over for good in October - I need a US number for ONE reason only - 2 factor authorization!! Literally every day, for banking, Paypal, government, practically anything I log onto here, they send a text to my US number so I can log in. Of course I will have a VPN when I arrive, but how do I keep a US number [JUST to receive texts, won't be making or receiving calls with it!!]. I will keep my phone from here, and buy one there with a Thai number - how can I go about making/keeping this one as my "US phone''? Thank you

A question about telephones. We have US cellphones, but we're moving to Bangkok in November. Ditching the US phones (but we can keep the number, according to Consumer Cellular), and we will buy a new phone in Thailand. I'm worried about a few US corporations that like to 2-Factor authenticate on a US phone number, has anyone 1. used Google Voice, and 2. can it be used for 2-Factor authentication?

Have any other UK citizens successfully dealt with two-factor authentication with their UK numbers in Thailand? I've racked up heavy fees previously by having to turn on my UK sim to authenticate and wondering if there are methods to get around it.

Recommendations please. Mobile phone plans that include international calls or a plan that allows Hot Spot so I can make wifi calls.

Some friends & relations will download Skype or similar but there are some that won’t so I need to make calls back to Australia a few times a month.

For people who have no trouble with their phone here and in the west... Do you have one electric Sim and one physical? Or just one physical and you swap? Or two physical?
