it is a credit card, and yes the limit is covered by my money on a Thai bank account. It’s convenient and it gives me extra benefits (Platinum card) without an extra fee.

yes it’s a secured CC. No need for me to have another one in Thailand. It’s more convenient to buy/book online and I can save air miles without an extra expense.

My Thai Platinum CC is free as long as I’m using it yearly.

We can have different opinions if it’s pointless or not, just wanted to mention that it is possible to have one in Thailand, even on a TV, but off course there are requirements.

I have a Thai bank account, debit card and credit card. Received all of them with Tourist Visa.

But I have property in Thailand and they block the limit of the CC you want on your bank account.

So it’s possible, even on tourist visa, if you meet the criteria.

you can get a credit card as a foreigner if you have a Thai bank account.

They will just block the limit of your CC on your bank account.

just come in as a tourist. As mentioned above you get 60 days when you enter Thailand on your American passport without needing a visa. And this can be extended once for another 30 days.

If you think about staying a bit longer, then apply for the Tourist Visa Multiple Entry. This visa is valid for 6 months and gives you 60 days each time you enter Thailand within those 6 months.

This will give you plenty of time to get to know that person and decide if you want to go to the next step. There is no need for another visum yet.

Do you have a residence certificate? If you have a long term (1 year) rental contract, then you can get this form at the immigration office.

The DTV itself doesn’t prove you will live in Thailand for a longer period.

You do know that a DTV is not intended for people who just go on holiday to Thailand ?

as in most countries, you must pay taxes in Thailand on your property/properties. I’m not spending time in Thailand to dodge taxes. I receive yearly the tax bill for my condo and I’m paying it correctly.
