Approved in Hanoi!

I'd like to thank everyone in this group for sharing their experience, that's been super helpful. Here's mine with a French passport:

January 14th: Applied under the remote work category

January 14th: Requested additional documents: Page of my passport with the Vietnamese immigration stamp.

January 14th: Moved to "Pending Approval"

January 21st: No news, so I sent an email and called them. No one answered the phone. But around 5PM, I got the visa by email.

What I provided:

1. Savings account with more than 500k. I had about 600k at the time of application. My savings are on Revolut.

1. Work contracts + earning certificate from Upwork. I'm a freelancer with 3 clients in EU, US, UK, and other smaller projects on Upwork. So I merged all the signed contracts + the Upwork paper into 1 PDF.

1. A photo of my passport + my photo in front of the hotel with the room key. I suggest you to add the stamp from immigration too (I didn't). Merge all in a PDF doc too.

1. A flight number and where I planned to stay in Thailand. I booked a temporary flight ticket + a hotel with no credit card required for a month. They do not ask for a confirmation email or any screenshot.

I was in Sapa the whole time while waiting and it was fine.

Please keep in mind that Hanoi embassy will probably close next week due to the Lunar New Year, so it might take longer for you to get it.

Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks again everyone that contributed in this group!

Hello everyone,

I applied for DTV in Hanoi on Sunday night (19th) and have already attached my employment contract and related documents. I am currently working remotely for a company based in Singapore.

Today, I received a request for additional documents, but I am not entirely sure what they are asking for. Has anyone experienced a similar situation before? If so, could you please share what additional documents were required?

I would greatly appreciate any guidance or advice. Thank you in advance!

P.S : I am Myanmar Passport holder

Helo all,

Have been a long term lurker of this group so have seen the odd question that meets my circumstances and done plenty of searching but I wondered if I could get some takes from informed people. Essentially I think I have two routes to a DTV.

The first route is I am currently employed as a civil servant. I am taking a career break to come to Thailand in May but right now I can provide the bank statement, payslips and a job description/contract that directly states I work "from home" (possible issue is that's the wording is just that, "from home", not "remote" .)

The negatives of applying that route are obvious, that I wouldn't be doing that job whilst in Thailand (more it wouldn't be allowed, than my contract states that anywhere) and I will not be being paid while on the career break, but will still be employed on paper.

Without moral judgment, I see nothing they'd ask for with the Visa though I couldn't technically provide at the current time as my career break hasn't started yet, outside of the possible issue of it saying "from home" rather than "remote".

My second route, is I am also a content creator who has only just gotten to the point I make enough money for it to be a tax concern, so whilst I can provide a Patreon page for my podcast that shows a steady income for many years (it was previously split between multiple people, now it's just me and in my name), I don't have business registration or any tax documents and won't until next year when I'd need to do this.

I'm thinking option 1 and maybe if I'm questioned, then switch to option 2 and volunteer that I have a second income.

What do people think, is that the best plan or should I be more forthright and just go Option 2?

Thanks for any thoughts!

EDIT: I would be applying via the UK Embassy.

My workation DTV Visa application has been approved by the Ho Chi Minh embassy in Vietnam.

I submitted my application via the evisa system, and it took 5 days to receive the application approval email. No extra documents requested.

I read a lot of useful information in this group, so I am sharing my experience to help others. Here are the documents I included:

## Proof of current location:

1. Vietnam passport stamp

2. Hotel booking confirmation

3. Selfie outside hotel in Vietnam

4. Flight to Thailand

## Proof of employment:

1. Cover letter describing my business and how it functions entirely remotely.

2. Business registration document

3. Certificate of Incorporation

4. Signed document appointing myself as director

5. Screenshots of stripe payouts and gross volume.

6. Screenshots of the business website, and stripe analytics page.

## Personal documents:

1. Passport bio data page

2. Two bank account statements, each with 500k+. Showing 6 months of data.

Other Points:

* The maximum file size for the PDF documents is 3MB. You can also only upload one document for each section. I used adobe acrobat to compile the files, you can select "reduce file size" at export to keep it well below 3MB.

* Double check all of your details are entered correctly. I have seen other applications get rejected for not adding their middle name for example. Rejection = pay the application fee again.

* Recently, I noticed many posts of embassies requesting more documents. One is 6 months of bank statements, and the other is a booked flight to Thailand. Make sure to include these to avoid the extra trouble.

Feel free to comment any questions and I'll do my best to help.

Is it possible for the remote work letter to be from a Thai company? And also is the proof of funds ok to be from a Thai bank account?

My DTV got approved yesterday from HCMC. I submitted application 5th Jan, got asked for additional documents of 6 months bank statements on 8th Jan, status changed to ‘pending approval’ on 9th, visa approved on 15th Jan.

Thanks for all the advice on here, a really great group to have access to throughout the process.

I got asked a few questions at immigration but nothing too stressful, just what visa did I enter with in October (tourist) and what I do for work. I pointed out that I work remotely and wanted to stay longer in Thailand and I was advised to get the DTV. She agreed it’s better.

Thanks all, wish you all the best outcomes!

Hi asking for some advice, sor for a long post

I’m in the process of a divorce with my thai wife, we lived outside Chiang Mai near Doisaket so now have to start all over again, don’t really have much in Australia

I have to change visa’s as marriage visa no longer an option so considering this visa as a possibility but not sure

I work offshore on ships in Australia/ worldwide (mainly Australia) 4 on/ 4 off & want to stay living in Thailand as have been here for around 12yrs & have been seeing a doctor since August 24 for some serious health conditions (heart) & diabetes

Not sure if DVT or LVR is best? DVT is cheaper but not sure if I would qualify under workcation as technically I work remotely on ships in Australia or worldwide but not a digital nomad

Under soft options I could use my medical treatment but does the doctors need to be accepted/registered through /with this visa?

LTR initially 5 times the amount, 10 year visa, I meet the salary conditions under the “work from Thailand professional” can work for a Thai company, have health cover fo US$50K

Any advice if offshore would pass as work remotely or not for the workcattion & the soft option for my medical conditions & if any doctor can be used or if they have to be part of a conglomerate (BKK hospital or similar private system ect)

I would like to thank this group for helping me get approved for the DTV. visa for remote worker without need for additional documents. I didn’t get the Visa by email. I had to download it from the website. If you did not get your email, there is a function on the website where you can download it.

I submitted the visa application to the Royal Thai embassy of Los Angeles on January 6, 2025. It was issued today.

The expected wait time was three weeks.

Here is what I included

-A letter authorizing remote work in Thailand, which I actually forgot to sign

-A letter with the links to all of my advertisements related to my remote work, including my website

-My professional résumé and link LinkedIn

-Screenshots of my website and advertisements that I have created

-Photographe

-Drivers license with current address

-Voter Registration with current address

IRS letter with current address

-Six months of bank statements with àžż500,000 baht, front page only

-The original IRS letter with the tax ID number for my company that was issued to me

-The companies’s articles of organization

-Registration from the Secretary of State that I downloaded from the website from the year of 2023

So yesterday, I was reading that someone stated that specifically they needed to put that they were not to work in Thailand and I had forgotten that, and upon looking at my letter, I forgot to sign it. Since I own the company as a single member, I had to write the letter to myself from myself.

So I added the letter I signed it. I sent it to the visa department and I woke up this morning and I got no email and I got a message from their line information that they would ask for it if they needed it.

I went over to the website where my applications were, I clicked on the tab, and I noticed that it had been approved

I did not get the email however I nobody responded when I emailed, but I noticed it on the left toolbar. There is a function where you can download the visa and now I have it.

I did not have to submit any salary or statements of transfer or show any of the detail of the statements, they approved it based on my tax return, and my letter with the stated annual salary

Thank you to anybody that has answered my questions in this group. You’ve been very helpful, I was able to get this and not any less than the time prescribed, I didn’t have to submit anything additional.
