I am planning to apply for DTV visa. Currently I am in bangkok on tourist visa which will expire soon. I have a full time job in Hong Kong. I pay income tax in HK just want to work from Bangkok. It is a company registered headquarters in HK.

Can I apply from Bangkok?

What will increase my chance of getting the visa?

Is there any better visa which will allow me to work from home Bangkok with multiple entry.

Would like some advice / insights 🙂

DTV on brand new company?

I’ve been working for my employer in my homecountry for years.

I’m going to quit this job, start my own business (so it’s completely new) and work on projects from my current employer.

The only difference is I was salaried until now, and will be self-employed then.

My current employer can write a letter, explaining the situation and letting me work online from Thailand. Of course I can also write a letter myself / from my company.

Would you think this will be accepted for the DTV, as my company will be brand new?

Hello. I’m a U.S. citizen in Thailand trying to get my dtv visa. I was planning on going to Cambodia for this. I need the 3 months 500k baht bank statements. Do they ask for proof of income, I am an investor/trader (stocks and crypto). Any advice would be appreciated

Hello!

Me, my wife, and our three children are applying for the DTV (Digital Nomad Visa), and I have a few questions. I would be very happy if someone can help me.

1. I will work remotely. Should I apply first, and then my wife and children apply after?

2. I will start my new (remote) job when we arrive, so I don’t have payslips yet. I have all the other documents. Is this a problem? Can I use payslips from my current job instead?

3. My wife and I have a shared savings account in a Swedish bank with 850,000 Baht. We are both account holders. Is this okay, or do we need to change something?

Very thankful for answers!

I applied for a DTV visa in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on September 18th. On September 19th, I received a request for additional documents. I had only submitted three pay slips. They asked for pay slips for the last six months and to highlight the corresponding payments on the bank statement for the last few months. I prepared everything and submitted it on September 19th.

On September 25th, the status changed from "Pending document analysis" to "Pending approval."

But due to a problem and confusion over the dates, I applied for a Vietnam visa until September 25th instead of October 15th. So, I had to urgently return to Thailand on September 25th.

I returned to Thailand with a 60-day tourist visa exemption. And on September 29th, I received a refusal, without giving any reason.

I submitted all the necessary documents: six months' salary, a bank statement for the last six months with a balance over 500,000 baht, and certified by the bank. A letter from my employer explaining and mentioning my agreement to work remotely, also stating that we do not work for Thai clients, as well as a sample of the last job I did. The insurance certificate valid for Thailand, and the form. TM30.

I don't see what happened. Could it be because I returned to Thailand before the process was complete?

Hi all,

Any advice or stories of your experience is appreciated.

I'm applying for the DTV visa as a remote worker and will be applying for my wife and son after mine is approved.

We are Canadians and currently traveling abroad.

We have read for fast approval that staying and applying from Vietnam is a good option, however, I've also read that I need to apply from my country where my remote work employment is located (Canada).

Has anyone here applied for a visa through Vietnam with success that is not a current resident there and just staying for a month?

Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone, I’m French and I applied for the DTV via the HCMC consulate.

What I submitted:

- 6 months of French bank statements (showing 500,000+ THB savings + regular income).

- Employer letter confirming remote work, contracts, portfolio with screenshots of my work

- Proof of location in Vietnam (flight ticket, entry stamp, Airbnb booking, photo at accommodation).

Despite this, they came back asking for many additional documents (see attached screenshot).

My partner already got her DTV only with a simple portfolio, no recurring income, no tax docs, nothing else…

Has anyone else received such extensive requests, or is this specific to HCMC?

How did you translate them? Keep the original layout, use a certified agency?

What to include in the motivation letter?

Thanks a lot for your feedback!

# 3 MB File-Size Tips (each upload ≤ 3 MB)

Recommended tools:

* Merge/Compress: [ilovepdf.com/]([members only]/)

* Ensure not to over-compress evidence with small text or images

iLovePDF workflow (what I do)

1. Compress (before merging)

Text-only docs (bank statements, letters, contracts): use “Extreme compress.”

Image/screenshot-heavy docs (dashboards, app listings, social content): use “Light compress.”

After each compress, open and zoom to 200–300% to confirm:

* Text remains sharp/readable (names, dates, amounts, IDs).

* Stamps/logos remain identifiable.

1. Merge

Use iLovePDF Merge PDF to assemble the final single file for that requirement.

If the merged file > 3 MB, run one more “Light compress” on the merged file, then spot-check again.

1. Final QA checklist

Open the merged PDF on laptop (simulate the reviewer’s view).

Verify all highlights/annotations are visible and not fuzzy.

Confirm page order matches your cover sheet/table of contents.

Re-run compression only if absolutely needed; re-check readability after.

When to re-export instead of over-compress

* If light compression still blurs small text, go back to the source and re-export smaller (crop more; export specific pages only) rather than forcing heavier compression.

# Quick Checklist

* Your contract explicitly allows remote work (Track A)

* Self-employed? Include your business registration showing your name (Track B)

* Reconciliation: every invoice/payout matches a highlighted bank deposit (same amount/date)

* Name consistency across docs (add a one-line name variation note if needed)

* Translations: non-English docs have English translations

* Dates align across tickets, stay proof, invoices, and bank statements

* Compliance statement included (remote work for non-Thai entities; DTV validity & 180-day stays understood)

Hi guys, question. My husband and I live in Thailand and are planning to apply for DTV in Hanoi as a remote worker or business owner. Heres the kicker...he owns a business in Canada that manufactures the liquid for electronic cigarettes....which are illegal in Thailand. Is this going to cause issues or do they they not care what type of business you own outside of Thailand?

Hello everyone,

I am currently in Malaysia and did my online application for the DTV visa. I am 32 years old and a swiss passport holder.

My situation: I just graduated for a Master degree in Business and Hospitality Management this July. I started working for a swiss company fully remote on 1. August 2025. That means till now I only got 1 payslip. The embassy request now the payslip for the last six months. Can I explain my situation in a letter? Also I showed them enough funds on my swiss bank account (+1million THB on the cash account since 2 years). They now want me to convert my swiss franks on my swiss bank account in THB, which I definitely will not do.

Next, I have a contract in English with that swiss company. And also a letter from the CEO explaining my position. Now they say I need to go to swiss embassy in Kuala Lumpur to let them clarify its a real document. But I read that the swiss embassy doesn't do that in Malaysia, only in Bangkok. But I can't leave Malaysia as I am in the application process.

Anyone else had just send one payslip (mine is about 100k THB) ?

I thought maybe they don't let me stay in Thailand as remote worker because I just started working remotely. Should I better do the DTV visa for Muy Thai? I mean I anyway want to train muy thai. But I will definitely upload the documents I have and see if I get rejected.

Thanks for your help
