Easy answer. Buy your phone in Thailand or go to another country and buy it and bring it in yourself

It’s a very intrusive process. The Thai immigration comes to your house an requires witnesses to verify that your marriage is authentic. They take pictures of you and your wife in your bed. I changed to retirement extension after one year

Can an American retiree in Thailand have Social Security deposited directly into a Bangkok bank account?

You can get the form to do it on the ss website. I went to the main Branch of Bangkok bank which has a huge foreign exchange department. They are very familiar with the form and will provide the required signatures. Excellent service but a long wait because they only have 2 or 3 people who can perform this function

What should I do after accidentally hitting a dog in Thailand?

Two times I’ve had dogs run into my front wheel at a90 degree angle. One time involved a trip to the hospital and a CT scan. Never thought of asking the irresponsible owner to pay for medical expenses. For those who don’t ride bikes in Thailand you can’t possibly understand the sheer number of uncontrolled dogs.

I’ve been using Skype for about $100 per year. It has always worked well. For an extra $39 you can keep your US number as your phone number

You can get a certified copy of your passport at the embassy. They don’t help in getting a bank account but they will provide a certified copy
