I’m on a non Imm O visa which expires on November 28. I’m going to apply for a 60 day extension for visiting Thai family while I’m waiting for my 400k baht to season in my Thai bank account. How soon can I apply for the 60 day extension? I’ve heard both 15 days and 30 days.

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can typically apply for a 60-day extension of your Non-Imm O visa for visiting Thai family either 30 days or even 45 days before your current visa expires, depending on the specific immigration office's policy. Some users also suggest considering applying for the extension due to Covid reasons rather than solely for family visitation, which might help keep your options flexible.

Good idea , but would there be any problem getting my 1 year based on marriage in December when my money has seasoned?

You mean, if you get a 60 day COVID-19 can't travel extension, and then apply for a one year extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai national after that?

In theory, both should work. BUT, my advice would be to use the 60 day extension of stay based on visiting Thai family, and then get a one year extension of stay based on marriage; it's a process that's extremely familiar with Thai immigration.

This new COVID-19 extension thingie is new, and might be confusing.

thanks. That’s kind of how I felt about it

Might be worth checking if they will do the 60 day extension because of Covid instead of family. That way you still have your family extension in 'reserve' you know, just in case 😉

When you can apply for a 60 day extension of stay based on visiting Thai family is specific for each immigration office. Most immigration offices allow you to apply for it 30 day before your current stamp expires, however some allow you to apply for it 45 days before your current stamp expires.
