I received my Non- O visa based on marriage in Los Angeles about a month ago. I’m planning on getting a 60 day extension based on visiting Thai family before the 90 day visa expires and then seasoning my 400,000 baht for two months and applying for my 1 year extension based on marriage after the two months. My question- the marriage license I have is issued by the State of Kansas and gas to go through an embassy verification process which includes stamps by the Kansas Secretary of State , The US department I’d State and finally the Thai Embassy in the US. Right now the US department of State is requiring sixty business days to authenticate which won’t meet my timelines for getting the 60 day extension. Is it likely that for the 60 day extension they will accept the certified copy I have or do I have a problem?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has a Non-O visa based on marriage and is seeking a 60-day extension due to family visits in Thailand. They face a delay with the authentication of their marriage license from Kansas, which needs to go through several verification steps. The user asks if a certified copy of the marriage license will be accepted for the extension, while a comment suggests following a specific procedure for registering their marriage in Thailand that may also aid in obtaining the one-year extension.

The way it's done AFTER you're already here in thailand IS:

-contact ACS (American Citzens Services) of the US consulate here in Bangkok after you get out of quarantine

-fill out a 'generic affidavit' & get it notarized,

-get that, the marriage certificate and the data page of your passport translated into thai,

-get those certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office here,

-then take the documents and your thai wife to a "city hall" (Amphur) and register the fact that a thai got married abroad.

They will issue you what's called a Kor Ror 22 and that in addition to your original marriage certificate is what you use when you need to prove you're married to a thai to get the year extension

BUT

Sadly this isn't a thai VISA question at all. I did give you the answer, so good luck with it. Post on a f/b page related to where you live in thailand asking how to register a marriage from abroad and you'll get people who have done it to weigh in.

Good luck (y)
