If your child studies in Thailand, he/she can apply ED visa and your wife get a guardian visa as the mother of your child, while you should apply another visa seperately. 1 guardian can be only for 1 child. The school will provide a letter that you need to apply Guardian visa for your wife. Works also if you want to be the guardian and your wife gets another visa.

thank you so much for very informative reply, Mr. Thurkettle. Do you know which country nearby the easiest to apply retiree visa? And if the transfer from abraod has been made more than 2 monrhs ago (4 months ago) and he still has 800K maintained in the bank account, is that ok? Does he has to show the transfer prove since 4 months ago or only to show the last 2 months of bank statement? I am asking this for my husband.

Just did it with help of Orbis Alliance. Your company would cancel your visa and work permit and they normally use their agent to do so (they will ask to keep your passport and work permit book) and yes, they can go to immigiation themselves to do so as they are the one who provide your work permit and visa. As soon as you got it cancelled and your passport visa stamped "VOID", at same day or next day, you bring your passport go to immigration to apply for guardian visa and also take care for the multiple or single entry permit. But before all that, make sure you have 520,000THB in your bank account, ask your bank to print your bank statement of 2 recent months and bank letter to the immigration in Thai language, just tell bank you need for applying visa and they will know). Prepare documents from school (tell school you need to apply guardian visa and normally they know what to prerpare) and all documents needed to apply visa like 4x6 photos, family book, birth certificate, housing rental contract, marriage certificate (all translated to Thai and certified by embassy), bank book.. 1 parent only can be a guardian for a child. Go very early morning at 7 am to queue to get number and normally comeback at 1 pm to do the process. Make photocopies of all documents. Passport all pages incld the blank ones and sign each pages. Make sure all documents certified incld bank letter/statement are not older than 7 days. That's our case was like. Hope it helps.
