As I understand it they filed for bankruptcy and want to restart in a new company with restructured debts. They owe your friends money/flights, but as a result of this procedure nobody gets anything at the moment. I doubt refunds will ever happen, best they can hope for seems to be they will respect they still owe people the flight. They said before they will, but a Thai official coming back on his word would not be the first time.

You are correct in saying that many people live here and can not border bounce. But I do not get the feeling that is something Thailand cares about. Very few Thai people will care if thousands of Farang are being send home.

If there will be another amnesty/grace period, it is because Thai immigration can't handle all cases. Or Thailand is scared of what the world will think of their hospitality.

That would drive me crazy. When it comes to noise, people here are inconsiderate. Which is odd, as I read the thing that annoys people most is noise.

I did as well, but I was on a tourist visa. Probably he is here on amnesty, and is told he can not change from amnesty to Non O visa in Thailand.

If Thai people are scared of foreigners who did not leave the country for at least 4 months, it is going to take a very long time for Thailand to open the borders.

The thousands of people did not have a problem because the agent had no problem. Everything has changed now. The fact that these visa's are done by IO's does not mean there is no problem. When you pay 20 times the price for a visa while not meeting the requirements, it will be hard to deny all responcibility.
