Which is best to have when applying for any visa, yellow book, id card or driving licence is it easier to have a Thai marriage certificate when married to a Thai rather than just UK certificate like myself?

1st time: Non-O marriage visa

Hi everyone. My husband and I recently got married in Thailand and we now have our Thai marriage certificate. He is currently on a visa exemption, which will expire on 9 April. We’re planning to apply for a Non-O marriage visa for him, but so far no Thai bank (Bang Na area) has allowed him to open a bank account because they told us he needs a Non-O visa first.

1. Does anyone have any suggestions in our situation? Are there any banks in Bangkok or nearby that might allow him to open an account?

2. We are also planning a short trip to Laos for a few days. When he re-enters Thailand, will he receive a 30-day or 60-day visa exemption stamp?

Thank you in advance for any advice 🙏

,

I’d like to ask for advice from those who have registered a foreign marriage in Thailand and obtained Kor Ror 22 at a district office (Amphur).

I’ve heard that some Amphurs keep the original foreign marriage certificate, while others only keep a certified copy. We only have one original document, so I’m a bit concerned.

Does anyone have recent experience with an Amphur that did not retain the original and accepted copies instead?

I understand that procedures can vary by district and may change over time — just hoping to learn from others’ experiences to choose the best option.

Thank you so much in advance!

looking for advise here. Perhaps others have some experience on this. My wife is Thai and I had her come to the USA under the K1 Visa. Now we plan to travel back to Thailand and live there moving forward. This means I will be under an Non-O visa when I travel back. I am getting all documents in the USA to make this a smooth transition. From a documentation stand point is there any thing I should look out for. I plan on bringing over several authenticated copies of the marriage certificate from the The Thai Embassy in USA to Thailand.

When renewing the Visa on yearly basis what should I expect?

It looks like exit and re-enter on this Visa is permitted. What does that process look like?

Do I need to have a living location such as a condo locked in prior to landing? Is a hotel sufficient?

Hi All

I’m a Uk national 43 yrs old have been married to my Thai wife (dual national) for 20 years now and have one son (dual national) we have lived in the uk since 2005 ish.

She has a home in Phuket town that we can reside in and have been to Thailand more times than can count now and for long durations as can work remotely.

Toying with the idea of us leaving the UK and relocating in Phuket full time.

As they are both Thai nationals they are fine but what would be best visa for me? Best visa to start with and for the long duration etc.

We have both married officially in the UK and married in Phuket via the Muslim ceremony etc.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Has anyone applied for a DTV spouse visa with a Thai marriage certificate? If so, was it approved?

My partner and I are both from Europe, and are thinking of getting married here in Thailand (I’m here on a DTV, they are on a tourist visa). Then go out of the country to apply for my partner’s DTV as my spouse. Just wondering if a Thai marriage certificate would suffice.

Asking folks from California…

Does LA consulate require federal authentication for a US marriage certificate when applying for a Non-O spouse visa? I heard that the process can be long.

Hello all, my wife and I are planning to move to Thailand in the next couple of years and are in the planning stages. I am a dual citizen (Thai/US) and she’s American. We were married in the US and have our US marriage certificate. Do I need to register and/or obtain a Thai marriage certificate as well? The ultimate goal is to get her on a marriage visa at least for now when we moved there . Also, can we do the paperwork here in the United States through our regional Consulate? I did a bit of research and i’m a bit confused between the marriage certificate KR22 as well. Thank you so much for any information.

Hello, I am married to a Thai woman and I will be arriving in Thailand on a non-immigrant visa O staying with a Thai family. I will then apply for a marriage visa. I have my thai bank account and the deposit.

What documents do I need to provide to immigration? Because the problem is:

I registered my marriage in Canada and they required my Thai marriage certificate so I no longer have it in my possession. What should I do if Thai immigration requires this certificate? Is a copy accepted since I no longer have the original. Thank you.
